About Our School

Welcome to Cawthorne’s Endowed School’s Website

It is a pleasure to welcome you to our school and have this opportunity to share information about who we are and what we do. I hope that you enjoy exploring the information on our website.

Our school is situated in an idyllic location in the Forest of Bowland, within an area of outstanding natural beauty, and at the center of the village of Abbeystead. Despite the school having a very long history (it was founded by William Cawthorne in 1674), we are constantly reviewing what we do so as to provide the very best for our children.

We are proud of our small size (maximum of 6 children per year group) as this means children receive individual attention which is modified to their needs, and are educated within a supportive, family atmosphere. We carefully monitor every child’s progress and give support to children when needed so we ensure everyone makes progress. Community is important to us and every child has a valuable contribution to make. My staff and I work hard to ensure that every child leaves our school ready and prepared for their next steps in life.

I am always happy to show visitors around our school. Please contact us to make an appointment so that you can find out more about how we work.
